Hydrotherapy is a form of physiotherapy that is administered in a specially designed heated pool.
The warm water helps relieve pain and relax the body, so increasing ease of movement. At the same time, exercising in water helps build strength while still supporting and protecting the muscles and joints.
At the end of 2005 the hydrotherapy pool at Deal, was re-fitted with high-tech sensory equipment. Thanks to a generous gift by KHoCA (Kent Handicapped Caring Association) and funds raised by a sponsored walk organised by Paddock Wood Baptist Church, the pool now boasts lights, sounds, aromatherapy smells and mist effects.
The system is coordinated through a state-of-the art IT system, allowing care staff to work with each resident to personalise a sensory programme to their needs.
