Other therapies
The use of specialist therapies is extremely important.
Apart from providing a varied range of stimulating activities, they promote good health and a real sense of well-being.
Some of our regular therapies are:
Physiotherapy works by using exercises that help with movement and stimulate the body’s own healing processes.  It can assist in the treatment of a wide range of complaints including back and joint problems, damaged muscles and arthritis.
Reflexology is the ancient art of healing by applying gentle pressure to different areas of the feet.  Congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrors congestion or tension in the corresponding part of the body.  Reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body’s natural equilibrium and encourage healing after illness, stress, injury or disease.

Music Therapy
The ability to appreciate and respond to music is an innate quality in most people.  This ability usually remains unimpaired by disability, injury or illness and is not dependent on musical training. Music therapy offers a safe, secure space for the release of feelings. Residents are encouraged to use accessible percussion instruments, Soundbeam technology and their own voices to explore the world of sound and to create a musical language of their own. As a result, residents may develop a greater awareness of themselves in relation to others. Involvement in creative music can assist physical awareness and develop attention, memory and concentration.

Sensory Room
Through a variety of light projectors and wheels, shimmering fibre optic light curtains and calming music, the interactive sounds and light walls of the sensory room provide stimulating opportunities that enhance residents’ awareness of their environment.  The senses of sound, hearing and touch are stimulated which in turn can help stimulate motor movement.  The environment can be adjusted to suit the needs of each resident.  It can offer a calm, tranquil and serene atmosphere with soft relaxing music to help the user relax and unwind.  Alternatively, it can be a vibrant room awash with colour, lights and loud music.
