The Christmas Pudding Run, held at Ashburnham Place, Battle, East Sussex. Our third popular run at Ashburnham. Kent Christmas Cracker Run. At Fowlmead Country Park, Sholden, Deal. Our second run at Fowlmead, with over 120 runners in 2007. 4th Martha Trust Celebrity Golf Day.                                                    Join the 'Cricketers' or 'All Stars' for this hugely popular event at Dale Hill, Ticehurst. September 12th
2nd Annual Sporting Dinner. News update for the Sporting Dinner, originally planned for June 19th. We have had to rearrange this event as our speaker, Graham Gooch, unfortunately finds himself now unavailable. The new date is Friday 12 September at Ramada Hotel, Dover 7.30pm with our celebrity guest, Comedian, Dave Lee who will also help with the auction and raffle. We are delighted that Dave Lee has agreed to help us out at short notice and are very much looking forward to hearing his views on all things local with that comedic twist. Tables of 10 cost £400 to include a 3 course dinner with coffees and limited wine. The Stroll for Martha 2008. Join us strolling from Boulogne to Le Touquet. Bank holiday weekend Saturday August 23rd to Monday August 25th 2008. June 27th
Sandwich Technology School walking for Martha. Pupils at Sandwich Technology School are donating the monies raised for their annual 10 mile sponsored walk to Martha Trust this year. Last year it rained so we are all hoping that the sun shines this year. All pupils are invited to contribute a minimum of £5, so if you know someone walking, then please support them. Our grateful thanks to all the pupils participating.

Art Fair. Art Fair to be held at The White Rock Theatre, Hastings. The event kicks off at 7pm with over 50 paintings up for grabs. Prices start as low as £10 for a small canvas and with such a range of themes and styles on offer, there should be something to suit your taste and budget. May 3rd-5th
Rome or Bust. Are you mad enough to drive a car worth less than £100 from Kent to Rome in less than three days? We are holding our first banger rally on 3-5 May 2008 to raise vital funds for Martha Trust. We provide two nights' accommodation, ferry crossing, flight back and a map. The rest is up to you! February 29th
Leap Year Charity Golf Day.                                                                  Geraint Jones and celebrities from the world of sports and TV and played the championship Links Princes Golf Course, Sandwich to raise money for people with disabilities. Designed for all levels, the Leap Year Charity Golf Day included breakfast, shotgun start, 4 ball stapleford golf, 3 course dinner, auction and prize giving.                                                                                            Over £4,500 was raised.                                                                    
February 16th
Charity Jumble Sale.                                                                              Held at Brede Village Hall, Nr Hastings. £300 raised.

December 22nd
The Sammon's Group Christmas Pudding Run, held at Ashburnham Place, Battle, East Sussex on Saturday 22 December 2007 was a great success. Over £1,500 was raised on the day.
December 16th
Kent Christmas Cracker Run. Over 20 children and 120 adults took part in the 1st Martha Trust Kent Christmas Cracker Run at Fowlmead Country Park, Sholden, Deal on Sunday 16 December  2007. Over £1,000 was raised to fund therapies and activities at Martha Trust.       
December 8th
Martha Trust Christmas Fayre at St. Georges Hall, Deal 10-2pm. Games, stalls and singing with a special guest appearance from Father Christmas!     
November 25th
Mary House Christmas Fayre at St. Helen's Church Hall, The Ridge, Hastings 12noon-4pm. A traditional fayre featuring live entertainment, fun stalls, superb raffle, and of course, Father Christmas!                                                      
November 7th
 

Charity Film Night at The Empire Cinema, Delf Street, Sandwich at 7pm.   The Right Worshipful the Mayor and Mayoress of Sandwich are holding a Charity Film Night viewing the premiere of 'Elizabeth-The Golden Age' on behalf of Martha Trust. Tickets £12.50 including a glass of wine and canapes.         Tickets available from Sandwich Guildhall or contact the Mayor's Secretary on 01304 617197 for more information.          

October 12th - 20th
 

Trek the Great Wall of China.
Trek along different sections of the Great Wall of China in the hills around Beijing. Head deep into the countryside away from the places where tourists normally visit this majestic structure. Afterwards explore the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square during free time in Beijing.

Giant Pumpkin Competition and Fun Day.
The Blue Pigeons at Worth are holding a Fun Day from 10am. Martha Trust will be holding a raffle and selling home-made cakes.

October 5th
3rd Martha Trust Charity Golf Day.
The Cricketers meet the 'All Stars' again for a fun day of Ryder Cup golf at Dale Hill Golf and Country Club, Ticehurst. All abilities welcome.
Come on your own or bring a team and enjoy a great round of golf, brunch and 3 course evening meal with well known comedian Adger Brown.                                             For further details see the GolfDay website or call 01304 615223.
September 4-15th
 

Martha Trust supporter Werner Baumker cycled Land's End to John O'Groats.                                                                                                          Werner cycled 1,039 miles to raise funds for Martha Trust, which is the equivalent to half the Tour de France! The Windmill Walk around Bruges.
This three day stroll over the Bank Holiday weekend will take you to Flanders and the medieval city of Bruges, coinciding with the Pageant of the Golden Tree in Bruges’ historic centre.

Garden Party, Romney Hythe Clinic.
Joan Bowers is holding a Garden Party in aid of Martha Trust at Egerton Forstall, Nr Ashford. Everyone is welcome to attend and she would love to see anyone that remembers her or her son. For details please call Joan Bower 01233 765135.

June 23rd
  Martha Trust Summer Fete
Martha Trust is seeking teams to compete in the first FUN Martha Trust TUG OF WAR competition on June 23rd 2007. The event will be held at Great Mongeham Village Hall and Green near Deal as part of Martha Trust’s Summer Fete.
  Teams can be up to 6 members strong, but not less than 4, and may be male/female or mixed. Entry cost is £10 per team and the winning team will receive a trophy. Many teams have already signed up to the challenge and are looking to stretch their muscles against other local teams.
  Martha Trust’s Summer Fete celebrates 20 years of the growth and commitment to the needs of people with profound learning and physical disabilities, and also marks the beginning of a 12 month “20th Anniversary” fundraising programme.
  Martha Trust Home Manager, Maureen Hutchinson, remarked:” If this Tug of War event proves to be as much fun as we anticipate, we hope it will become a regular part of our annual Summer Fete.”
 

Martha Trust’s Summer Fete runs from 12 noon-4pm on Saturday June 23rd at Great Mongeham Village Hall and Green and also includes dog agility, live music, refreshments, bric-a-brac, book and cake stalls, competitions, games and displays. The charity are looking for more helpers on the day, so please get in touch if you can help!

Fowlmead Country Park Opening Weekend 
Fowlmead Country Park at Betteshanger, Kent, opened in May 2007 and there were a large number of events, activities and attractions at the opening weekend, and Martha Trust was their chosen charity.

May 19th
 

The Night Run in Luxembourg. 
The fabulous Night Run in Luxembourg is set to attract even more than the 6,500 runners.
The Night Run is a marathon, a half marathon or a mini marathon of 4.2K – the choice is yours. If you decide to take part in the full marathon you can switch to the half without a penalty – and this decision doesn’t have to be taken until the 10 mile mark!  The run begins and ends in the National Indoor Arena.

Sporting Dinner at Abbots Barton Hotel, Canterbury. An evening with Martin Peters MBE, footballer from winning 1966 World Cup squad. Supporting Martin will be a top comedian.

 

Enjoy a sumptuous three course meal and evening of entertainment with Martin Peters MBE in the tranquil setting of Abbots Barton Hotel. Tickets are £45 each or £400 for a table of 10.  Bring your friends, family or colleagues for this memorable evening.  Read more>>

  London Marathon
Long time supporter Jamie Osborne from Tonbridge is bravely going to run the London Marathon on behalf of the Martha Trust, to raise money for our new therapies and activities programme.
    This will be Jamie's first ever marathon, so please support him to raise much needed funds for the Trust, by visiting his fundraising page>>.

Christmas Pudding Dash at Ashburnham Place, Battle at Battle Memorial Hall, Battle, East Sussex.                                                                         Kind youngster, Lillie Brett, was one of the participants.   Chatham House Grammar School raised £629.75 from holding a non Uniform day.

Quiz Night – St Martin Church Cheriton. £217 was raised from the night.

  Charity Golf Day at Dale Hill Golf Club, East Sussex.                                 Ex-England cricketer Derek Underwood led a team of past and present cricketers against a team of 'All Stars'. The All Stars were led by ex-Welsh rugby star John Taylor.
  The Trust raised £6,500 profit, which will help to fund a sensory garden at Mary House, Hastings. Read more>>

Fundraising feat at 3,500 feet
  Gavin Maguire, Sales Executive from Campbells Garage in Kingsdown, did a parachute jump in aid of the Martha Trust on Sunday 8th October.
October 6th - 9th
  Mount Etna Challenge. 11 volunteers trekked over Europe’s largest and most active volcano to raise funds for Martha Trust.
October 5th
  Pumpkin Day - The Blue Pigeons Inn in Worth organised a fundraising pumpkin day. The winning pumpkin weighed 109lb 5ozs! They raised £222.40.
October 5th
Volunteers from Pfizer spent the day making over Frances House garden.
September 16th
Sponsored walk by employees of Reeves and Neylan. They raised £810.00.
August 26th - 28th
  Stroll for Martha – sponsored 25 mile walk in France to raise funds for Martha.
  In the Footsteps of William the Conqueror, the walk took in some stunning countryside from Montreuil-sur-Mer to the beautiful harbour in St Valery-sur-Somme - the port of departure for William the Conqueror in 1066.
