Leigh
Packer runs London Marathon for
Martha Trust in just
2hrs 46mins!! |
|
Leigh secured his own
place for the marathon
through ballot and was
inspired to run for
Martha Trust after
learning about the care
his friend's son
receives at Mary House
in Hastings.
Julie Brett, Community
Fundraiser at Mary House
remarked: " The staff
and residents at Mary
House are very grateful
to Leigh for undertaking
the London Marathon on
our behalf. Leigh ran
the marathon in an
impressive time and has
raised nearly £1000. The
funds will benefit
the eight young people
who live at Mary House,
helping fund the
hydrotherapy service for
them."

It was delightful to have sporting
heroes such as Danielle Masters join
teams on the day and some of the
great cricketers of past and present
including Martin Saggers, Min Patel,
Simon Cook and John Shepherd. Bob
The Cat Bevan entertained the
golfers during the evening which was
a perfect ending to a great day. We
also extend our thanks to the staff
at Princes Golf Course for their
help and support. The money raised
will make a great difference to the
lives of the people we care for at
our homes in Deal". The 2009 Golf
Day will be held again at Princes
Golf Course on Friday 13 March 2009. |

Martha Trust holds two successful Summer Fetes
Summer 2007 |
|
|
|
For the first time in its 20 year history, Martha Trust held two summer fetes this
year to raise money for its work with people with profound disabilities.
The Deal fete was held on June 24th in Great Mongeham. With a huge cake stall, duvet stuffing competition, tug of war and fantastic displays from Dover Youth Theatre, Betteshanger Junior Brass Band and the Hawkinge Flyers, the day was great fun, and made a profit of £1,600.

|
| Mary House in Hastings hosted their own Fun Day in July in glorious sunshine. Hundreds of people turned out and the event was opened by Cllr Charlesworth, the Mayor of Hastings who was full of praise for the new home in Hastings. The TS Fortitude Band played and there were displays from the Hastings Twirlers and the Iceni Belly Dances and Karate teams. The day made over £900 to support the residents at Mary House. |

Congratulations to Five Brave Staff
who Jumped for Mary House
Summer 2007 |
|
|
|
| Five brave members of staff from Mary House
took to the skies to raise money for the trust
and raised a staggering
£1600. The team
made the jump at Headcorn, Aerodrome in Kent. The money
raised will go towards the new hydrotherapy pool for the home. |

Steve Avery, the cook at Mary House, desperately wanted to raise cash for the residents. He jumped with his daughter, Kim, who works as a support worker at the home. Also keeping it in the family are support workers Amanda Bracey and Kirsty Bishop, a mother and daughter team who are equally committed to raising money for the Trust. Finally, Janice Jinks, nurse at Mary House, is determined that her residents get their own hydro pool so that they no longer have to travel to Deal for their important therapy sessions.
Julie Brett, Community Fundraiser, said, 'It is vital that we get this pool for our residents in Hastings. They are currently having to complete a 120 mile round trip to access this vital therapy. Once we have a pool in Hastings they will be able to enjoy additional treatment sessions which will greatly increase both the health benefits and the enjoyment factor for them. I am thrilled that we have such a committed team at Mary House who clearly think so much of the people that they care for.'
