Nursery answers Christmas Tree plea from Mary House

December 2005

Mary House, the new residential home in Hastings for profoundly disabled people, received a gift of an 11 foot Christmas Tree this week.

The tree was donated by Stonecross Nurseries in Pevensey following an email request by Mary House’s administration assistant, Christine Woodley. Christine described: “Residents and staff at Mary House wanted to decorate the home for Christmas, but as we are a charity we did not have a budget to buy a Christmas Tree. I emailed 10 local nurseries asking if they could donate us one. I was thrilled when Stonecross Nurseries replied saying yes!”.

Staff from Mary House visited Stonecross Nurseries, where they selected a tree growing on the site. This was chopped down and transported to the home on The Ridge.

Christine went on to say “Our residents and staff are absolutely delighted with the tree. It has really helped create a Christmassy atmosphere at Mary House. It is lovely to know that a local business will help the vulnerable people we care for. The true spirit of Christmas is still with us!”
