‘Christians Together in Dover’ which represents 20 churches in the Dover area, joined forces last week and hosted their annual Come Carolling Concert at Dover Town Hall. The group invited Martha Trust to speak at the event, which this year raised £745.
Over 500 people attended the evening, enjoying contributions from Dover Choral Society, Lydden Primary School and the orchestra from St Edmunds Catholic School. David Ridley, vicar of St Mary’s Dover, presided over the evening with prayers led by Reverend Bruce Allinson from The Beacon Church and Christian Centre.
Emily Shepherd the Operations and Development Manager from Martha Trust, made the appeal at the concert on behalf of the charity. The Trust which provides a residential and respite care for
people with profound physical and learning disabilities has two homes in Deal.
Mrs Shepherd was delighted
with the generous response on
the evening. She explained;
“Martha Trust is a small charity
which depends upon the goodwill
of local people. We rely on
donations such as these to
provide first class care and
opportunities for the people we care for. We are delighted with the sum raised, and we are deeply grateful to ‘Christians Together in Dover’ for organising the event.”
