Led by ex-England cricketer
Derek Underwood, famous names
from the sporting world will be
joined by paying guests, in a
match based on the Ryder Cup at
Dale Hill in Ticehurst, East
Sussex.
Derek Underwood will lead a team
of past and present cricketers
including Ross Edwards, Graham
Johnson and Darren Stevens
against a team of ‘All Stars’.
The All Stars are led by
ex-Welsh rugby star John Taylor
and include jockey Philip
Mitchell and Ladies European
Tour golfers Liza Walters and
Natalie Booth.
Derek Underwood explained why he
wanted to support the Martha
Trust golf day: "Martha Trust
provides loving residential and
respite care to people with
profound and multiple
diabilities in Kent and East
Sussex." He continued: "I want
to help this small local charity
with its very worthwhile cause,
and I'm extremely grateful to
all the Cricketers, All Stars,
sponsors, individuals and
companies who are supporting the
day".
Emily
Shepherd, Director of Operations
for Martha Trust responded; “We
are delighted that Derek
Underwood and so many famous
sporting names are supporting
our second golf day. Last year’s
event was very enjoyable and
very competitive!” Mrs Shepherd
continued; “The money raised
from the 2006 event will be used
to pay for a sensory garden for
our young residents at Mary
House in Hastings.”
The
Martha Trust runs two homes in
Deal and one home in Hastings
for people with profound
physical and learning
disabilities.
They also run a respite service
helping many more local
families.
