Bishop of Dover to become Patron of Martha Trust

Martha is delighted that the Bishop of Dover, the Right Reverend Trevor Willmott, has agreed to become our first patron in our 26 year history.

Bishop Trevor, who in his own words was “given the gift of faith” as a teenager by an inspiring Christian family, studied for ordained ministry at Westcott House, Cambridge after a first degree in Theology at St Peter’s College, Oxford. He now has many national church responsibilities and was elected to the Upper House of the Convocation in the Province of Canterbury in 2005 and is a member of the Business Committee of the Church of England’s General Synod.

Bishop Trevor says of his new role as Patron of Martha Trust: “At the heart of the Christian Gospel is the clear and unequivocal understanding that every human being has dignity in God.  The Church’s commitment to the ministry to all with disability is I believe the right outworking of that Gospel imperative.”

In his spare time Bishop Trevor describes himself as “a real foodie who enjoys cooking”. His other interests include gardening, rugby and cricket.

Martha Trust is looking forward to working with Bishop Trevor to raise awareness of their work.
